Fiorentina president Rocco Comisso says Dusan Vlahovic should give recognition to the Tuscans’ whatever happens’ and explains why Gennaro Gattuso left the club in the summer.

Vlahovic is expected to leave Fiorentina at the end of the season as he is unwilling to sign a contract extension with La Viola.

His current deal at the Artemio Franchi expires in June 2023. He is regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting strikers and became the second most prolific forward in Europe’s top 5 leagues in 2021.

“He developed here. And he should give recognition, whatever happens, to the club that got him to where he is,” Commisso told the Financial Times.

The Fiorentina patron refused to release further updates as “we are under active considerations as to what to do.”

Commisso also offered his version of Gattuso’s farewell to the club in the summer, less than one month after his appointment as a coach.

The former midfielder demanded the club “buy certain players at a certain price” who are also represented by his agent, Jorge Mendes, said Commisso

“That’s not my style. That’s not my history. I’m not gonna let anybody take advantage of me.”

The Financial Times reports a person close to Gestifute, the agency led by Mendes’ rejected Commisso’s story, describing it as “unreal” and “disrespectful”.’

  1. Vlahovic is about to give his club a 70m transfer fee, more than what we got from the best goalkeeper of a generation. He should be thanking vlahovic for this and the goals he’s scoring, it would be easy for him to sit out his contract and give them nothing if he wanted

  2. That works both ways. Vlahovic cost them nothing. If he doesn’t take the best transfer bid that arrives for Fiorentina, they can afford to let him sit in the stands next season and leave for nothing at all if they wanted to. They already have Piatek. As fast as Vlahovic came on the scene, he can be forgotten if the team wins matches. No one is above the team.
