President Rocco Commisso can’t guarantee that Federico Chiesa will remain at Fiorentina and has claimed that he is not in Italy “to watch others win”.

The American businessman took over Fiorentina last summer and despite showing willingness to invest and aim for big targets in his new project, the billionaire endured a tough start to life as a President in Italian Serie A.

The American businessman took over Fiorentina last summer and despite showing willingness to invest and aim for big targets in his new project, the billionaire endured a tough start to life as a President in Italian Serie A.

“I have come to learn,” he told DAZN. “I brought Daniele Pradè and reassured [Vincenzo] Montella about his job.

“We worked to get a great team, but then some disasters came. [Franck] Ribery got hurt and things didn’t go so smoothly. We had to change, bring in a new coach.”

He replaced Vincenzo Montella with Beppe Iachini during the winter break and is still adamant that the future is bright for the Viola.

He has not given up completely about his idea of giving the people a new stadium, either.

“I have always said that I want to invest,” he added. “Let’s hope they will let me build the new stadium. I didn’t come to Italy, at my age, to watch the others win and I lose.

“Florence is beautiful, I don’t think there are any cities in Italy that are as beautiful. But there are some problems, like building the new stadium.

“Because of historic buildings and houses, you can’t put the stadium next to the Duomo.”

Fiorentina’s big starlet, Chiesa, has been linked with a move away from the club and the President has revealed that he can’t guarantee that the Italy international stays at the Artemio Franchi.

“I don’t know if he will leave in June,” he said. “I kept my promise, keeping him last summer. He never asked me to get sold. We’ll see…”
