Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso welcomes new buy Lucas Torreira and confesses they ‘will sign someone else’ by transfer deadline day amid Borja Mayoral rumours.

Torreira completed his move from Arsenal, on loan for €1.5m with an option to buy for a further €15m at the end of the season.

“We got a great player today, Torreira. For two years I heard talk of needing a playmaker and now we finally have one,” Commisso told the official Fiorentina channel.

“I think that we will sign someone else before the transfer window shuts. We’ll see if we manage it.

“The team is strong, as is the coach, Vincenzo Italiano. I hope to do better than last season.”

There have been rumours flying around today that Fiorentina are trying to get Borja Mayoral on loan from Roma.

It would be complicated, as he is currently on loan from Real Madrid, so they’d have to negotiate with both clubs.

Mayoral has dropped to third choice for the Giallorossi after the arrival of both Eldor Shomurodov and Tammy Abraham.

  1. What’s this…positive comments from Commisso?! Someone must be feeding him zabaglione. Good for them, perhaps this gives them a little boost to make a run at the Europa League.
