Roma outcast Ashley Cole could join Andrea Pirlo at New York City, according to reports.

The English defender joined the Giallorossi in the summer of 2014, but after a poor first season in Serie A has not been included in the squad this term.

The exclusion is a clear symbol that the former Chelsea man is not wanted in the Eternal City, and he has been linked with a return to the Premier League.

However, according to Sky, New York City in MLS is now Cole’s most likely destination, with former teammate Patrick Vieira on the bench.

Cole would be allowed to move in January, and it’s thought Roma the Lupi would be happy to get his wages off the books, rather than demanding a fee for the left-back.
