The former England international yesterday flew out to Rome and completed formalities on an initial two-year deal to join the Giallorossi on a free transfer, following the expiry of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Reports in Britain are that the 33-year-old’s deal with Rudi Garcia’s side will pay out between £3.65m and £4.2m in basic wages and bonuses each year.
Whilst registering at between €4.6m and €5.3m to place him at a similar rate to Francesco Totti and only below Daniele De Rossi, it is seen as a sizeable reduction on his previous Chelsea contract.
Cole was believed to have been pulling in £200,000 a week with the Premier League side, approximately €13m a year.
Yesterday evening Cole took to his official Twitter account to comment on completion of his move out to Serie A.
“Happy to have signed my contract at #roma just want to thanks everyone for ur lovely messages,” wrote the left-back.
“Will never forget my time in England was a pleasure, but now onto a new challenge.”
