The Giallorossi are in Russia with their Champions League campaign in the balance. A win for Rudi Garcia’s men coupled with a Manchester City defeat to Bayern Munich would see the capital club progress.

A defeat however would leave qualification out of Roma’s hands, with the Lupi relying on Bayern Munich beating CSKA in the final group game to have any chance of reaching the last 16.

Temperatures in Moscow are expected to fall as low as -4 during the match tomorrow night, and goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis concedes this will be a factor in the outcome.

“It [the cold] is certainly a factor to consider,” De Sanctis told reporters in the pre-match Press conference.

“In my career I’ve often played in extreme conditions, and the role of the goalkeeper is the most sensitive in such cases because you don’t move much and your extremities cool down immediately.

“There are systems which can slow this cooling, we’re preparing with the club to fight the cold on a technical level.

“We have things that can help us, but we have to also be mentally ready to understand the conditions of the pitch.

“The cold is an advantage for them, they’re used to playing in these conditions, we’ll try to take advantage of the time we have on it to better understand how the pitch will behave.”
