Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie reveals he dreams of playing abroad, ‘perhaps in Italy’, whilst discussing imminent opponents Roma.

The two teams will meet for the first leg of a Europa League Round of 32 game tomorrow evening, and Clasie took the opportunity to discuss fellow Dutchman Kevin Strootman, who is ruled out due to injury.

“I haven't had a chance to speak with him,” said the 23-year-old. “Of course I'm sorry for his injuries.

“But I know Kevin and I'm sure he'll come back the way he was before, because he's a strong kid.

“Right now I'm 100 per cent focussed on Feyenoord, but I nurture the dream of playing abroad someday, perhaps in Italy.

“Yes, I am often compared to Xavi, but the association is premature.”

The Dutch talent was asked whether the Giallorossi might be less threatening after their unimpressive 0-0 draw against Parma on Sunday.

“We knew we could draw some strong teams. Roma was the strongest we could end up against.

“Over the season everybody has highs and lows, but this doesn't mean anything.

“Italian teams are fearsome. I'm expecting a difficult game.”
