David Silva’s corner was met by Yaya Toure in the box, and the Ivorian knocked the ball down for Sergio Aguero to make it 1-0.

Silva got on the scoresheet himself just before half-time, latching onto Raheem Sterling pass before guiding the ball past Oleksandr Shovkovskiy.

The tie appeared to be over, but Dynamo gave themselves a lifeline in the second half. Vitaly Buyalskyy’s deflected shot found its way past Joe Hart with just under an hour played.

City pushed for the goal which would put the tie beyond doubt, and it duly arrived as the game headed toward its conclusion.

Yaya Toure picked the ball up on the edge of the box, and curled a precise shot inside the left post.

In the other game, Atletico Madrid were held to a 0-0 draw with ten-man PSV Eindhoven. Visit our sister site football-espana for a full match report.
