Champions League qualification is “the minimum target” for Inter this season, says captain Mauro Icardi.

The Nerazzurri were top of Serie A before the winter break, but have fallen to fifth-place, four points behind Fiorentina in third.

“We had a great first half of the season, then we stuttered,” Icardi explained to Inter Channel.

“I think the team could be a bit higher-up, now we have to aim for third place and the Champions League, that’s the minimum target.”

Icardi is often the centre of attention for the Beneamata, with reports of a rift with Coach Roberto Mancini, does that focus bother him?

“No, not at all. There’s been talk about me ever since I arrived, people began to talk about me when the story about [wife] Wanda [who had been married to teammate Maxi Lopez] came out.

“It’s much worse in Argentina!

“I’ve never argued with the Coach, we have a great relationship.”
