Cigarini arrived from Cagliari this summer and signed a two-year deal with the newly promoted side.

After a tough start with two defeats in his first two games, including the 2-0 defeat to Milan on Sunday, the defensive midfielder admitted he expected a ‘transition period’.

“This team need time to be able to create the right balance,” Cigarini told Sky Sport Italia. “We have many new and young players.

“This transition period is normal. From my point of view, we took a step forward today, considering the opponent we had in front of us.”

The Rossoblu sit bottom in Serie A after two games but Cigarini is not worried. He believes the new players just need time to ‘adapt’.

“We must continue on this path, the players who were already in the squad knew each other, over time, the others will be able to adapt too.

“We must continue along this path, with the right mind and important ideas.”
