Brazilian full-back Cicinho has asked Roma to extend his contract which is currently set to expire in June 2012.

The South American’s future is in some doubt given that he’s struggled to get a game at the Stadio Olimpico.

The former Real Madrid man did, however, feature for 68 minutes of last night’s Coppa Italia victory over Fiorentina.

That was only his fifth appearance of the season for the Giallorossi, but he seems happy in the Italian capital.

“I’ve often struggled to find space in the team, but boss Luis Enrique has assured me that he needs everyone in the squad,” stated the 31-year-old.

“I personally just want to do the best that I can for Roma. I want to stay at this club.”

Cicinho, formerly of Sao Paulo, joined Roma in August 2007 for €9m from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
