Before the international break the Bianconeri beat city rivals Torino in the Derby della Mole, but there was controversy as the agent of Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain accused referee Nicola Rizzoli of “helping” the League leaders.

The Partenopei are three points behind at the Serie A summit, and the Italian international expects the title race to go all the way.

“Recent events don’t change anything at all,” Chiellini shrugged, speaking to Premium Sport.

“We’ve shown on the pitch that we’re the strongest, but we have opponents behind us [Napoli] who won’t give up, a team that is having a great season.

“It’s up to us to keep them as far away as possible. The League will be decided later, after the weekend of April 24 and 25 when we’re in Florence [to face Fiorentina] and they’re in Rome [at Roma].

“It’s possible we could have almost decisive results then.”
