Juventus have confirmed that Giorgio Chiellini will not be back until after the international break due to a thigh injury.

Chiellini pulled up just before half-time in Juve’s 2-1 win against Napoli on Saturday, and subsequent tests have shown a “distractive trauma” to the defender’s right thigh muscle.

“During the morning, Giorgio Chiellini underwent tests, which emerged the presence of a grade-one distractive trauma to the posterior region of his right thigh,” read a statement on Juve’s official website.

Calciomercato.com reports the injury is the eighth Chiellini has suffered in 2016, and the 32-year-old will now miss the Bianconeri’s games against Lyon and Chievo, plus Italy’s matches versus Liechtenstein and Germany.
