Fabian Herbers called former Napoli and Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain ‘pathetic’ and ‘absolutely shockingly negative’ following his move to the MLS.

The 34-year-old Argentinian forward signed for David Beckham’s Inter Miami in September 2020 on a free transfer and things have not been particularly simple for the player since his arrival in the United States. Last campaign Higuain netted 12 goals in 30 MLS appearances, often being invisible in games and contributing little. The season prior he scored once in nine appearances.

Inter Miami drew 0-0 with Chicago Fire last week and their forward Fabian Herbers had nothing positive to say about Higuain when speaking to the Zee Soccer Podcast.

“F**k that guy, man. This guy is so pathetic. His whole body language is terrible. I wouldn’t want to be a teammate of his. F**k that guy, I don’t want any part of it.

“In the first game already, he’s so negative, so destructive, so negative towards your own teammates who you’re supposed to try to help.

“You’re supposed to lift them up, supposed to make them better as a leader, as a DP, and I think it’s going to be a long season for Miami and Higuain as well if that continues.

“Every time there’s a missed pass he’s just rolling his eyes and absolutely shockingly negative.”

Higuain’s contract expires with Beckham’s Miami in December of this year and it’s unlikely that his contract will be renewed, forcing him to look elsewhere for a new club. The player’s career has been in free fall a little after he lost his place in the Juventus first team back in 2018.

  1. it is because he has lower quality players beside him, what do you expect if your team only have three decent players

  2. I’d expect professionalism Juvenesia and maybe a bit of leadership. Bet he’s quite happy picking his wages up.

  3. He was never the same player after he left Napoli under Sarri. And he left them in an unprofessional way. Refusing to answer calls and show up for training. Glad to see his career tank. Even with millions he will always be a mamas boy.

  4. ‘After he left Napoli’? Haha. I am due he is controlling himself quite well with his three serie a titles (including 2 doubles) in Juventus; the first two of which he was a big protagonist in, especially against Napoli.
