Six years ago Paul Pogba left Juventus for Manchester United, breaking hearts in Turin, but his possible return this summer may be what brings the Bianconeri back to their best.

The 28-year-old Frenchman has had a rather torrid time in the North West on England, failing to ever particularly win over both the fans and pundits whilst wearing a Red Devils shirt. One statement often parroted about the midfielder is that he is of a completely different level with the French national team compared to Manchester United, but this is not entirely accurate.

Looking at the statistics, Pogba is one of the most creative and productive midfielders in the Premier League. This season, the Frenchman averages 4.02 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes, 6.88 progressive passes per 90, 6.70 progressive carries per 90 and 2.84 successful dribbles per 90.

These numbers underline how Pogba is a creative and important part of Manchester United’s midfield, playing a key role in transition and being a key contributor in attacking moves. He also puts in the work defensively, averaging 2.02 clearances per 90, 3.12 tackles and interceptions per 90 and 3.03 aerial duels won per 90.

Massimiliano Allegri’s midfield is clearly missing something in Turin and Pogba could be the man to fix Juventus’ midfield, supplying Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Chiesa and possibly Paulo Dybala with consistent and inventive passes, which could be enough to take them to the top once again.

  1. He has been below average since he went back to Utd. That could be because of just how poor they have been for almost a decade or Pogba as just shown his level as he doesn’t have the luxury of playing with players as good as Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio. It doesn’t justify him asking for millions each year. He’s a better dancer than a football player.

  2. Just another player who is leaving the EPL because he can’t handle the challenge. Serie A farmer league is more of his style.

  3. MIKE – farmer league in your opinion. But remind me who who won EURO 2020?

Theres a reason the premier league is good and its nothing to do with English players haha

  4. @Mike

Other than the long list of flops/average players from other leagues who are stars in England, of course.

But the TV didn’t tell you that, so you don’t know.

  5. Hard to believe anyone would think this clown could take Juve back to the top.

He’s turned into a waster at United. He has the talent, but his attitude is poor.

Leave him where he belongs: either in the oil league or PSG.

Serie A needs to stop wasting money on “names”.

  6. I remember the banners and t-shirts utd fans had ‘POGBACK’ should make some saying Pogflop
