According to The Athletic, Chelsea have rejected the latest Inter offer for Romelu Lukaku, but the asking price is lower than even the Nerazzurri were expecting.

Director Piero Ausilio confirmed to reporters this week that Chelsea warned them there would be no repeat of last season’s loan, so any transfer would have to be a permanent one.

The Italians are ready to make it happen for the right price and The Athletic claim the fee Chelsea are looking for is circa €45m.

That is even lower than the figure named by Inter chief Beppe Marotta, who said that the Premier League side could not expect more than €50m considering that was the fee they had accepted from Al-Hilal before Lukaku rejected the move to Saudi Arabia.

The Belgian scored 14 goals in 37 games for Inter last term, helping them reach the Champions League Final, winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana.

The Evening Standard also states that the latest offer from Inter was worth €30m.

Juventus have been linked, although Lukaku repeatedly said he would ‘never’ join Inter’s bitter Serie A rivals.
