Sport Mediaset and Sportitalia have been pushing the Higuain story for some time, but it has now reached the English media and is spreading fast.

If Sarri is indeed appointed, then he would relish the opportunity to work with Higuain again, as the men remained good friends and exchanged positive messages even after the €90m transfer to Juve.

Pipita had the best season of his career at Napoli under Sarri in 2015-16, shattering the all-time Serie A record with 36 goals in a single campaign.

He is 30 years old, though, and the first name on the way out should Juventus raise funds for their audacious €100m Cristiano Ronaldo project.

The Bianconeri would charge around €60m to sell Argentina international Higuain.
