Sky Sport Italia claim the Stamford Bridge side are not entirely convinced by the total €55m that Juventus want for Higuain, not to mention Milan’s demands to interrupt the loan six months early.

When it comes to the midfield, they are also leaning away from the Serie A option, as Sportitalia suggest Barella is considered too expensive from Cagliari at €45-50m.

With Napoli pushing hard for the Italy international, Chelsea are instead advancing negotiations with Zenit St Petersburg for Paredes.

The Argentine is 24 years old and also a target for Milan, but would relish a move to the Premier League.

Roma sold Paredes to Zenit for €23m plus bonuses in the summer of 2017.

He has scored four goals with four assists in 22 competitive games for Zenit this season.
