Inter were never really in the running for this home loss to Bayern Munich, as Andre Onana kept the scoreline down on his debut, but Leroy Sané sliced their defence to shreds.

The Nerazzurri made radical changes after two Serie A defeats, giving Andre Onana his debut in goal, using Edin Dzeko for injured Romelu Lukaku and dropping Nicolò Barella for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

It was a lively start from both sides, Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Muller testing Onana, while Lautaro Martinez flashed a shot across the face of goal.

Onana flew to palm Muller’s inside of the boot effort over the bar from just inside the penalty area after a Sadio Mane lay-off.

Bayern took the lead with a truly sensational goal, as Leroy Sané sprung the offside trap on a ball over the top, trapped it beautifully onto his chest, then took another touch to go around Onana and stroke into the empty net from a tight angle.

Dzeko’s header on a corner was deflected inches wide by Muller, but Onana got down to beat away an Alphonso Davies effort and Sabitzer fired the rebound wide.

After the restart, Danilo D’Ambrosio missed horribly from a promising position and Dzeko prodded it straight at Manuel Neuer, while Kingsley Coman’s effort took a double deflection to go over.

Alessandro Bastoni deflected a Joshua Kimmich strike and Onana had to back-track to pluck it out from under the bar.

Bayern doubled their lead by carving the Inter defence apart with a ridiculously calm double give-and-go between Sadio Mane and Sane, the finish was probably going in anyway, but Danilo D’Ambrosio failed in his attempt to clear off the line.

Onana used his foot to deny Sane’s angled drive at the near post, then Joaquin Correa wasted a gift from the Bayern defenders by scuffing wide.

  1. Great game by the Chinese masters of the back, back, down, down approach to football. Mister Zhang clearly needs to invest a few more billions, letting leave future Ballon d’or winners Vidal and Sanchez leave the club was a big mistake. Gagliardini MOTM for sure.

  2. Prince Simpletone Inzaghi again has demonstrated his tactical competence.

Ali said “move like a butterfly, sting like a bee”

As for the pauper prince of Inter, move like a snail, sting like a marshmellow.

    Forza Diarrh-inter!
    SphIncter Milan!

  3. I really don’t think that ball was going in had it not been for D’Ambrosio. Onana definitely the only positive.

  4. 3-5-2 formation is the main problem since 2011
Only conte can get good results out of this system but with ugly wins
I hope we get back to 4-2-3-1 with a new coach and two wingers very soon.

  5. Hahaha

Lord Inzaghi the patron saint of the back back down side tactics of the Shao Kang Zhang footballing dynasty of China has struck gold with his 5-3-2 formation that made Lautaro the first man to see 2024 from his offside position.
