Cesena have admitted their interest in Pasquale Foggia, but the Lazio player's wages could be a problem.

"Foggia is a player who our Coach likes a lot," sporting director Lorenzo Minotti told Radio Mana Mana.

"He bossed him during their time together at Ascoli and he'd like to have him at his disposal yet again.

"However, at the moment, we still haven't structured an offer for the player. We'll talk about that in the next few days."

The swoop could be difficult to complete though as the Italian international is on €800,000 a year until June 2013.

"It's clear that his salary doesn't fit within our parameters at Cesena," Minotti added. "Let's wait and see how discussions with Lazio evolve."

Coach Marco Giampaolo has specifically asked for the 28-year-old after their success together at Ascoli in 2005-06.

Foggia was arguably the Bianconeri's best player that term and was instrumental in keeping the club in the top flight. He scored four goals in 34 games.

He joined Milan the following summer but was quickly shipped off to Lazio, who then loaned him to Reggina and Cagliari. The latter were again bossed by Giampaolo.

The 28-year-old returned to Lazio in 2008 and has been with the club ever since.

He has won three full Italian caps and scored in the 3-0 win over Northern Ireland in June 2009.
