The Roma youth product landed yesterday night in the city to complete his formalities in a swap deal that has seen striker Fernando Torres return to home club Atletico Madrid.

Today the 27-year-old undergoes medical tests at the clinic of La Madonnina, before then heading to Milanello for further tests with MilanLab, with a view to beginning training with the team tomorrow.

“I'm just waiting for my medicals and the signing of the contract, but I'm very happy,” said the former Torino striker upon landing, as reported by MilanNews.it.

“It was important for me to come back to Italy.

“I've already spoken with Coach [Filippo] Inzaghi. I took a long route, but it's what I wanted in the summer.

“Having come to Milan is important, it's a point of arrival. Now I need to find my feet here, get to know my teammates and give everything I've got for the Rossoneri.

“We'll have to see about playing with Sassuolo, but I'd be happy if I could.”

Cerci had been linked to the other Milanese team, Inter, but he says he's happier with the final development.

“These are personal things, but I was keen on wearing the Rossoneri shirt. I'm happy with the way things turned out, with a view to the national team too.

“I've landed here and I must prove I'm an excellent player. My first feelings are positive, returning to Italy in the Milan colours is exactly what I wanted.”

It has been suggested that Cerci may don the number 22, which belonged to former icon Ricardo Kaka, but the Italian made no commitments yet.

“We'll see what shirt number I choose for myself. Kaka's number carries a lot of weight. I still haven't heard anyone, I was on holiday and everything happened really quickly.”

Cerci reached the La Madonnina clinic today for his medicals, where he reiterated his sentiment: “I am going to give all of myself, I have excellent feelings.”
