Alessio Cerci is reportedly on his way back to Serie A for Bologna on loan with option to buy from Atletico Madrid.

The 29-year-old winger has struggled badly since his €15m move from Torino to Madrid in August 2014.

He barely featured for the Colchoneros, failing to impress also in loan spells at Milan and Genoa.

Cerci had been on the verge of joining Bologna over the summer, but that move fell through when he failed a medical.

Cerci had been on the verge of joining Bologna over the summer, but that move fell through when he failed a medical.

According to several reports, including Sky Sport Italia and Calcionews24.com, the time is right for him to arrive at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

It should be made official over the next few days and has been in the works for several weeks.

The plan is for Bologna to sign Cerci on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

That option becomes mandatory once he makes a certain number of appearances.
