Talks between Napoli and Edinson Cavani’s agent will continue in a bid to sort out a new contract for the striker.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Pierpaolo Triulzi, one of his representatives, discussed the matter on Thursday.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, no agreement was reached and a further summit has been pencilled in.

The former Palermo sensation currently earns almost €3m a season, but he’s looking for a €5m contract that will reward him for his goals.

De Laurentiis, however, is reluctant to go beyond the €4m figure. The Gazzetta suggests that the player may well accept that with the promise that his future options will be reviewed next summer.

Cavani is one of Europe’s most highly rated forwards which is underlined by transfer links with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Juventus.
