Beleaguered defender Leandro Castan is reportedly close to signing a new contract with Roma.

According to Gazzamercato, Roma will be able to sell Castan for a higher fee if he pens an improved deal until 2020.

The Brazilian’s contract is due to expire a year before but seemingly has no future at the Olimpico and struggled for form and fitness on loan at Torino last season.

The 30-year-old was a regular for the Giallorossi between 2012 and 2014 but developed a life-threatening caverna in his brain, forcing him to sit out the next two years of his career.
