“It’s incredible, but with these fans and the victories, we are dreaming and have a genuine chance of getting into the Champions League,” Castagne told Sky Sport Italia.

“I think we realised that we really could fight for fourth place when we completed the comeback against Roma, then beat Juventus in the Coppa Italia. We had great games against the top six and now we’ll try to end on a high.

“The Champions League would be incredible, but we aren’t there yet, we have to work hard for the next two weeks. We are in good shape and must begin every game from scratch. Just because we won the previous match doesn’t mean we start the next with an advantage.”

That is not the only potential immense achievement for Atalanta, as they are also facing Lazio in the Coppa Italia Final on Wednesday.

“We’re feeling confident for the Final.”
