Antonio Cassano has been left out of the Sampdoria squad, as officially he has gastroenteritis.

It was reported after last weekend’s derby with Genoa that FantAntonio had been released, something the Blucerchiati later denied.

Eyebrows were raised, however, when the forward was left out of Vincenzo Montella’s squad for the trip to Juventus tomorrow, with the club citing gastroenteritis.

Eyebrows were raised, however, when the forward was left out of Vincenzo Montella’s squad for the trip to Juventus tomorrow, with the club citing gastroenteritis.

“Is that really the reason?” Montella considered when asked about the issue in his pre-match Press conference.

“Why wouldn’t it be? Cassano has trained all week, as he’s done throughout the season. I haven’t seen him today, but I know the doctor was at his house last night because he wasn’t well.

"I repeat, he trained only yesterday with the reserves.

“I see no reason to believe that his absence is down to anything other than what the doctor told me.”

Sampdoria squad to face Juventus: Brignoli, Puggioni, Viviano, Cassani, De Silvestri, Diakité, Dodô, Pereira, Ranocchia, Silvestre, Skriniar, Alvarez, Barreto, Calò, Correa, Krsticic, Palombo, Sala, Soriano, Muriel, Ponce, Quagliarella, Rodriguez
