The veteran Norwegian centre-forward has been drafted in after Diego Milito was ruled out for at least six months with a knee ligament injury.

“Inter are a very big club, so this is a great opportunity for me,” Carew told journalists after landing at the airport.

“I am ready to play, as over the last few months I have trained regularly and so am in good shape.”

Carew will sign a four-month contract thought to be worth €300,000.

He is able to arrive outside the transfer window because he is out of contract after leaving West Ham United in the summer of 2012.

The 33-year-old returns to Serie A, as he had a disappointing loan spell at Roma in 2003-04, scoring six goals in 20 games.
