Milan owner Gerry Cardinale sent a special message to Stefano Pioli and his squad after their Champions League quarter-final win over Napoli.

The Rossoneri booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Europe’s premier club competition after edging out a 2-1 aggregate win over Napoli in a tense quarter-final tie.

Pioli’s side will face the winner of Inter-Benfica for a spot in the Champions League final, meaning one of the most exciting Derby della Madonnina clashes could be on the horizon.

As highlighted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Cardinale made a promise to Pioli and his Milan squad after their Champions League quarter-final win.

“Thank you guys. I am so proud of you and the boys. Really well done. You make us all proud with this hard-fought victory. Please send my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our players, coaching staff and the whole team.

“I am sorry I cannot be there in person, but I watched every second of the match and cheered for this result. I will be there for our next win!”

Milan’s qualification to the semi-finals of the Champions League means they’ll earn around €90m in total, which would rise further should they qualify for the final.

The Rossoneri are hoping for an important summer transfer window to help them close the gap to Napoli and take back the Scudetto, making their work in Europe even more important.
