Milan owner Gerry Cardinale is ‘proud’ of his players but warns that the ‘season has just started.’

The Rossoneri are on top of the Serie A table after a 1-0 win over Genoa on Saturday. They are two points ahead of city rivals Milan and three clear of Fiorentina and Juventus in third.

“The season has just started but the lads continue to consolidate as a team,” Cardinale told Gazzetta.

“I am proud of the character and the grit they show on the pitch. This is what champions are made of.”

Milan will face Juventus at San Siro after the break but will be without the suspended Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan.
