Former Roma Coach Fabio Capello says there’s ‘crazy pressure’ in Rome: “It’s very difficult to work there”.

Giallorossi boss Rudi Garcia and his Lazio counterpart Stefano Pioli have both felt the pressure this season after underwhelming campaigns so far.

Capello coached the Lupi between 1999 and 2004 and believes that the city ‘bewitches’ people, but that this isn’t always a good thing.

Capello coached the Lupi between 1999 and 2004 and believes that the city ‘bewitches’ people, but that this isn’t always a good thing.

“It’s very difficult to work in Rome, we’re not just discovering this now,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“There is no balance, in Rome they celebrate and get depressed with extraordinary speed and the work of the Coach becomes arduous.

“Rome has this effect on everyone, including politicians, who may come with certain programs and then leave bewitched. Rome engulfs you, but the enchantment isn’t always a good thing.

“And there is crazy pressure with the football, I know from personal experience.

“Madrid? The same pressure, but also a winning mentality that not everyone in Rome has. Rome is a very complicated city.”
