Fabio Capello notes Mario Balotelli has had “many” chances after Roberto Mancini recalled him to the Italy squad.

The striker hasn’t played for his country since the 2014 World Cup, but has been included in the latest Azzurri squad and is expected to face Saudi Arabia tomorrow.

“It’s another chance, and he’s had many,” Capello told Sky.

“If Mancini has given him this chance it means he has faith in him. The shirt of the national team is very heavy, we’ll see if the youngsters can carry that weight.

“Mancini has had a bit of time, he’ll be starting to understand the value of the players he’s selected, their characteristics, their style of play. It’s a moment to study.

“We’ll need to understand what’s good and what isn’t as good, without criticising him too much because it’s his first time as CT.

“It’s different to coaching a club team. You have to wait, start again, start over with the correct phrases to motivate players, and correct mistakes.”

Capello also discussed Carlo Ancelotti’s move to Napoli.

“I was surprised by how quickly [President Aurelio] De Laurentiis moved, as I could see he was doubting Sarri and then he went immediately to Ancelotti, who accepted.

“He will have had guarantees from the President about signings. With him Napoli can make a quantum leap and get closer to Juventus.

“When you arrive in a team you need to understand what the strengths and weaknesses are, even in terms of the the style of play.

“Ancelotti has that experience, while I replaced [Arrigo] Sacchi, [Zdenek] Zeman… I found the key to winning.

“Ancelotti will too, he has a nice style of play and his teams win.”
