Lazio protested that their 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo was influenced by “simulation” from Cannavaro to earn a penalty.
However, after viewing the images from multiple angles, the commission ruled “contact between the Lazio player’s left foot and the left foot of the Sassuolo player could not be ruled out beyond reasonable doubt.”

Lazio midfielder Cataldi was sent off in the same match for a second bookable offence and he receives a one-round ban.
The same fate befalls Genoa midfielder Dzemaili.
