Both nations have successfully qualified for the Euro 2016 tournament and these friendlies are the opportunity to test themselves.

It was announced today that the Azzurri will face Belgium in Brussels at the King Baudouin Stadium, what used to be the old Heysel Stadium.

The venue is infamous for the disaster on May 29 1985, when just before the start of the European Cup Final between Juventus and Liverpool trouble in the stands and a crumbling wall saw 39 people killed – 32 of them Italian – and 600 injured.

This friendly had originally been earmarked for Kuwait, but has been moved to Brussels.

Belgium will be top of the FIFA rankings for November, leapfrogging Argentina and Germany.

Italy have beaten Belgium 13 times, drawn four and lost three times.

The most recent encounter was in Florence in May 2008, a 3-1 Azzurri victory.
