There is a long injury list for the Nerazzurri, as Diego Milito, Walter Samuel, Matias Silvestre, Joel Obi, Luca Castellazzi and Gaby Mudingayi are out of action.

Alvaro Pereira sits out a ban, while Ranocchia and Chivu are carrying knocks after Thursday’s Europa League win in Cluj.

Ranocchia had initially been ruled out completely with a sprained knee, but the latest reports suggest he will have a last-minute fitness test to see if he can make it.

The lack of options at the back could prompt Coach Andrea Stramaccioni to move Cambiasso into the defence, a role he has already played several times in Europe this season.

Stramaccioni hinted during his Press conference on Saturday that he could potentially leave out top stars such as Antonio Cassano if they did not fit with his tactical approach for Milan.

Most sources seem to believe Cassano will start against his former club with Rodrigo Palacio and possibly also Ricky Alvarez.
