Inter star Hakan Calhanoglu insists the Nerazzurri still believe in the Serie A title and says he has many friends at Milan although ‘the fans’ perspective is different.’

The Turkey international released an interview with TRT SPOR discussing – among other things – his season with the Nerazzurri so far.

Inter won the last match before the World Cup break but are 11 points below table leaders Napoli who they will meet on January 4 when the Serie A campaign resumes.

“Napoli are doing well and deserve to be table leaders, the first match after the break is against them and we haven’t given up,” said the ex-Milan star.

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has been using ‘Calha’ as a central midfielder, while he was mainly deployed as a Trequartista at Milan.

“I’ve improved defensively, I like to dictate the tempo,” he said.

“I used to play as a No.10, but now I am happy to be involved in that part of the pitch.”

Calhanoglu joined Inter as a free agent from Milan in 2021 and is clearly not on good terms with his former fans after joining their city rivals for nothing.

“I still have many friends at Milan, but of course, the fans’ perspective is different.”

Calhanoglu has scored three goals and delivered five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions this season.

His contract at the Stadio Meazza expires in June 2024.
