Milan full-back Davide Calabria praised new signing Olivier Giroud and believes the France international ‘was what we were looking for’.
The Frenchman scored a brace against Panathinaikos on Saturday, when Calabria wore the captain’s armband in Trieste.
The full-back praised Giroud’s performances since he joined the club from Chelsea this summer and believes he can play together with Zlatan Ibrahimovic too.
“Giroud is a great player,” Calabria told Sky Sport Italia. “He has won a lot in his career and we just have to find the right pace with him.
“He’s an established player, I don’t have to talk about him. He was what we were looking for. It was important that he found the target and we are also waiting for Ibra.
“Having such a couple of strikers can only do us good.”
Milan start the new campaign with an away trip to Sampdoria in Liguria, before hosting Cagliari at San Siro in the second round of fixtures.
