Torino President Urbano Cairo suggests Serie A games be played as far abroad as China, even the Turin Derby with Juventus.

The idea of hosting some Premier League, Liga or Serie A matches in the Far East has been suggested several times, while the Italian Super Cup is already regularly played abroad.

“Why not play Torino-Juventus in Beijing? Now everything is possible, it’s all feasible, there’s no need to be scandalised by anything,” Cairo told Radio 24.

“Football is global now, but clearly you also have to look after and preserve the fact that most Toro fans want to see their team in their stadium.

“Perhaps there could be a less important fixture played abroad, one that doesn’t mean quite so much to the fans.

“We must be open to solutions that could be advantageous, while maintaining respect for the fans who have been tied to the club for decades.

“It’s important to keep everything open to give a real push forward to Italian football. We need to find someone who is competent and will dedicate their entire time to what is best for football, ensuring it spreads all over the world and consequently also improves the game in Italy.”
