Caldara joined the Rossoneri from Juventus this summer, arriving as part of a swap deal with Leonardo Bonucci.

However, he has managed just one appearance so far and it was reported this morning he faces three months out with a torn calf muscle.

That would put him out until late January or early February, and SportMediaset believes technical director Leonardo is considering alternatives.

The dream would be a a return for Paris Saint-Germain’s Thiago Silva, but he’d command a hefty salary and is 34.

The other option, therefore, is Brazilian international Rodrigo Caio, who has an EU passport.
