Lazio hitman Felipe Caicedo assured he “knows what my role is” after a brace to secure their 2-1 victory away to Sampdoria.

Despite seeing Gaston Ramirez sent off before half-time, Samp still fought back and very nearly equalised, both sides rattling the woodwork.

“We knew Samp were a tough team who don’t give in and they proved it. We held out under pressure, did well in the second half too and therefore deserved this victory,” the Ecuador international told Sky Sport Italia.

“Unfortunately, we dropped points in the last two or three rounds, but we have to be united and this was a response to show we fight to the end.”

Considering his impressive scoring record, Caicedo was asked if he felt restricted in being a second-choice striker at Lazio.

“The Coach makes his choices and I have to respect them. I was a little sad to be left out against Milan midweek, but we won as a team and reached the Final, which is the most important thing.

“I am happy, I know what my role is and work every day to ensure I am ready when called.”
