Cagliari have announced that their first-team squad has agreed to waive its salaries for the month of April.

A statement on Cagliari’s official website expressed gratitude on the club’s part for the gesture and said it would help ensure a ‘drastic reduction’ in non-playing redundancies.

“Cagliari Calcio announce an agreement was reached today with all first-team players, which provides for the waiver of salaries the month of April 2020,” it read.

“President Tommaso Giulini thanks the players who signed the agreement, for the sensitivity they have shown in wanting to help protect the club during this complicated and volatile period.

“As also requested by the signatories of the document, this agreement will contribute to a drastic reduction in the redundancy of club employees.”

The Sardinians become the fourth Serie A side to negotiate a pay cut with their players after Juventus, Roma and Parma.
