The former Juventus full-back, who has been directing the women's national football team in Italy since 2012, has had his new role confirmed by the Italian Football Federation today.

“We are investing in the professionalism of Cabrini,” declared FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio on the 57-year-old.

“Just like we did with Antonio Conte for the coordination of the men's teams.

“With a clear schedule and targeted investments, we set off on a path that will take us closer to the level of the greatest European federations.”

Michele Uva, the General Director of the FIGC, echoed Tavecchio's statements by saying: “We studied a project for the revamping of women's football.

“Cabrini will take care of the technical side, working in synergy with the other Federal technicians, those who deal with sports and also with communication.”
