“Some of watched the match in Rome,” Buffon explained to Mediaset after winning his ninth Serie A title, though two were revoked in the Calciopoli scandal.

“I must admit though, I wasn’t that tense because with the three points we got in Florence we basically put the mortgage on the final victory.
“The feat we’ve achieved is crazy and amazing. I think this is the most beautiful Scudetto by far because it was a demonstration of incredible strength.
“It was a victory of cohesion and solidity, from the squad to the club. This win is a prize that’s gratifying for me, and without wishing to sound presumptuous I think it was fair.
“When we were second to Napoli by a few points it would have been a shame to stop and settle for that.
“After a run like that we could have stopped to catch our breath, but we didn’t want to stop at the climax.”
