Buffon was sent off in Juve’s 1-1 draw with Lazio on Saturday and the Giallorossi took full advantage, seeing off Hellas Verona 3-1 to cut La Vecchia Signora’s lead at the top of the table to six points.

“The situation worries me in the same way as it did before, except that we have two points less of an advantage” commented the 35-year-old.

“We knew already that Roma were a strong team.”

Sunday’s draw represented Juve’s second consecutive game without a win, but Buffon ‘laughed at’ suggestions that alarm bells may be ringing at the Juventus Stadium.

Despite his dismissal at the weekend, the Italian No 1 also talked of his improved relationship with match officials on the whole.

“For me the referees are doing very well. We also have a nice on-field dialogue which helps.

“As far as sendings-off go, the rules are harsh. The referees only apply them though so it’s not their fault.”
