The Coach was appointed on a short-term basis after Sinisa Mihajlovic was sacked last month, but his tenure so far has been a disappointment.

Today he gave an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport, during which he discussed what he hopes to gain from his spell on the Rossoneri bench.

“At dinner in Arcore the President asked me to bring back to the team the concept of play with which Milan became great,” said Brocchi.

“He asked me to give back a Milanista mentality. I want to talk with everyone: from the warehouse worker to the last of the gardeners.

“But in 40 days how can I do it? So I had to focus myself on the most urgent things. For two and a half years Milan have played defensively.

“It had to change, possibly in a hurry. I’m not crazy, naïve or presumptuous. If they asked me to get as many points as possible, I would have worked differently.

“This Milan is very far from the great Milan teams. The areas of the club are disconnected from one another.

“Regret accepting the job? Absolutely not. Nobody thinks you’re not at the top, above all if you’re an intelligent person who works, has passion and respect and has lived well for 20 years. I’ve spat blood for this shirt and continue to do so.

“My dream? The good of Milan. I want to see the fans happy again and people with a smile on their face when they come to work at Milanello. Even if it’s not me, I hope someone manages that soon.”
