The Rossoneri Coach turned 40 today, and the club posted a video message from former teammates such as Paolo Maldini, Andriy Shevchenko and Cafu.

However, it was a former midfield colleague who stole the show with a story about their time together with the Diavolo.

“Do you remember when we used to steal your phone and write senseless messages to everyone?” Brocchi asked.

“Then you received the answers and chased us to beat us up! Great times! You are a legend Rino.

“I’d like to wish you a very happy birthday, remind you that I love you, and make sure you never give up because you have a tough challenge ahead of you but I’m sure you’ll make it.

“You are a legend, my friend. A big hug.”

Andrea Pirlo also sent a message to Gattuso, telling him that he looks 50 rather than 40, as a result of taking the Milan job.

Ringhio’s former midfield partner also joked that the 40-year-old would be joining him as a pundit on Sky “in a few months”.
