Liverpool striker Fabio Borini is at the top of Inter’s shopping list when the transfer window re-opens in January, reports suggest.

The striker was a target for the Nerazzurri in the summer, before he rejected any move away from Anfield in order to try and force his way into Brendan Rodger’s team.

Since the transfer window closed, Borini has made only one Premier League start for the Reds, and Tuttosport states that the Beneamata will make the former Roma man their top priority in January.

The newspaper believes that Inter are seeking to create a core of Italian players, similar to the approach at clubs such as Juventus” data-scaytid=”8″>Juventus or Milan. Juve fielded seven Italian players in their win over Empoli” data-scaytid=”10″>Empoli at the weekend, while the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 reverse at Parma saw only one home-grown player pull on the famous shirt – Andrea Ranocchia.

Borini may prove costly for Inter however, as Liverpool accepted a bid of over €17m from Sunderland in the summer, only for the 23-year-old to reject a return to Wearside.

The player was listed by technical director Piero Ausilio on Monday as a potential mid-season target, only for his agent to shoot that down.
