Parma chief Tommaso Ghirardi has hailed the outfit's swoop for Italian Under-21 international Fabio Borini.

"The arrival of Fabio is one of the most satisfying things since I took over at Parma," said the Gialloblu President.

"Everyone wanted him, but we were able to convince him to join us.

"The fact that we at Parma could offer him space in the first team and the right environment to do well probably favoured us."

Parma netted the 20-year-old on a free transfer this summer after his contract at Chelsea came to an end.

Borini, a forward, joined the London club in 2007 after growing up in the Bologna youth ranks.

He signed for Swansea City on loan in March and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League.
