Borini left the London club in the summer when Parma signed him on a Bosman. They then loaned him to the Giallorossi in the summer before selling a 50 per cent share in the forward to the capital outfit in January.
“He has quality for sale,” Ancelotti, now in charge of French giants Paris Saint-Germain, told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I knew that he would do well in Italy,” he continued. “He has a nose for goal and a speed which few possess.
“Fabio’s movement is important for Roma, he has integrated well with his attacking teammates and you shouldn’t underestimate his work rate when his team are pressing their opponents.
“He is a potential champion and the fact that Cesare Prandelli has already considered him for the national side confirms that. I wouldn’t be shocked if Borini was the surprise of the European Championship.”
The 20-year-old scored his ninth Serie A goal of the season during the 1-0 win over Palermo at the weekend.
The Italian Under-21 international made his full Azzurri debut in the recent 1-0 loss to America.
