Fabio Borini admits he’s looking for a place in Italy’s Euro 2012 squad, “but I must be consistent” for Roma first.

The Under-21 striker has been promoted to the senior squad with his first cap as a substitute against the USA.

“I hope to be at Euro 2012, but it doesn’t really depend on me,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“I must continue working hard, be consistent for Roma in terms of results and performances, then others will make the decisions.

“I hope to be at Euro 2012, but it doesn’t really depend on me,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“I must continue working hard, be consistent for Roma in terms of results and performances, then others will make the decisions.

“I’ve got nine goals so far this season and still want more, enough for me to put myself forward for next season.”

Despite losing the derby, Roma are still in the hunt for a third Champions League spot and face leaders Milan on Saturday.

“It is possible, just as beating Milan is possible. There was never such a big gap between us on the field. We lost 3-2 at the Olimpico despite the fact they didn’t dominate us throughout the match. We will certainly go on the attack against Milan, as our approach doesn’t change whether home or away.

“Milan have always been a top team fighting for the Scudetto and Champions League, but this can make things difficult for them, as there is inevitable fatigue from all these competitions. I don’t think they’ll get distracted by the upcoming quarter-final with Barcelona, as they are used to many big games.”

Borini gave his view on Milan stars Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Under-21 international Stephan El Shaarawy.

“Ibra is such a strong player, perhaps the form man in Europe at the moment along with Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He has immense technical and tactical qualities that always make the difference in Italy.

“I have seen El Shaarawy play a few times, as he is a great player with real creativity, but we’ve never actually played together.”
