Leonardo Bonucci said the 2-1 win over Inter at San Siro was “the kind of game we enjoy” and he’s eager to help Juventus teammate Matthijs de Ligt.

Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain scored either side of a Lautaro Martinez penalty to decide the Derby d’Italia, ending Inter’s 100 per cent record.

“We were able to deal with the various moments of the game with confidence in ourselves, but also humility,” Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia.

“We were able to deal with the various moments of the game with confidence in ourselves, but also humility,” Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia.

“We kept the ball comfortably and did not really suffer when Inter had the ball. I think we saw a great Juventus this evening, but also one that can improve significantly.

“It was the kind of game we enjoy. There was a lot of intensity, physical vigour, but that is only right when there is a game of this level and so much at stake.”

De Ligt gave away the penalty with a handling offence and seemed a weak point in the Juve back four.

“I know that the loss of Giorgio Chiellini was really bad for us, both on and off the field. I had to give more than I did last season, which was an odd year for me anyway,” continued Bonucci.

“I feel people believe in me now, I am the oldest back there and it’s my duty to help my teammates with less experience by giving even more.

“I think we have some details that really do need improving and if we can keep focus even more, become more solid and determined, we can take another step forward.”
